Pro Pride is a local non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 with a mission to empower poor and disadvantaged individuals, families and communities to eradicate absolute poverty. Pro Pride started operation after registering and signing agreements with concerned government bodies. As per the new legislation, it has also registered with the Charities and Societies Agency as Ethiopian Residents Organization.

In its more than 24 years of operation and partnership, Pro Pride evolved from operating in one locality in Addis Ababa where it started its implementation with one program component, namely savings and credit, to five program areas to undertake multiple poverty alleviation initiatives. The program initiatives are mainly categorized into Livelihoods Promotion, Education, Community Based Health Care with Polyclinics as referral points, HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control, Care and support to Orphan and other Vulnerable Children (OVC) and their families. The organization has also been involved in projects focusing on promoting gender equality in general and addressing violence against women and girls in particular using different strategies including media (radio in particular).
