Addressing Gender Norms in Formal Education

  • P Project/Program

? Activity Status: Unknown

Key Information

This intervention targeted formal primary schools and learners by working together with school councils, young people, teachers, and traditional leaders. The project sought to influence the development, implementation, and monitoring of the gender responsive School Development Plans (SDP). The project supported school councils and young people in using the mechanisms in place to report, refer, and respond to violence against children at school. It also facilitated teachers’ professional development with a focus on gender-responsiveness. The project also supported the implementation of School Girl Clubs focusing on SRHR to influence changes at the school level, and to provide spaces and mentoring for girls to share their challenges with their peers.
