Equality Training Program

The Programa de Formación para la Igualdad y No Discriminación entre Mujeres y Varones is an initiative by Uruguay's National Administration of Public Education (ANEP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) and the National Institute of Women (Inmujeres). It is framed within the Plan Nacional “Por una vida libre de violencia de género hacia las mujeres 2022-2024”, which aims to combat gender-based violence and promote gender equality in various sectors. This program offers online courses designed for educators, students in teacher training, and technical staff working in both formal and non-formal educational institutions across the country. The courses focus on preventing violence within educational settings and promoting equality between men and women.

The courses, which combine asynchronous learning activities with synchronous videoconferencing sessions, cover various topics such as gender-based violence, healthy relationships, sexual rights, and preventing human trafficking. The program is designed to provide 90 hours of training, and participants must complete a final project to pass. The program also emphasizes themes like masculinities, cultural change, and co-responsibility for greater gender equity.
