Key Information
The Technology for Improved Learning and Education (TILE) project aims to enhance access to quality education in the remote indigenous Miskito communities of the Bosawás Biosphere Reserve in Nicaragua. Through the introduction of Mobile Learning Labs (MLLs), the project provides digital learning resources, technology infrastructure, and improved educational materials to schools in seven isolated communities where limited connectivity, under-resourced schools, and low literacy rates pose significant barriers to learning.
The project also focuses on strengthening teacher capacity and supporting community engagement by training educators and local youth technology facilitators to integrate digital tools into teaching and learning. In addition, the initiative develops culturally and linguistically relevant educational content, including resources in the local indigenous language, while promoting gender equality and sexual and reproductive health education. Data generated through the program will support evidence-based planning and advocacy to improve education access, quality, and equity in the region.
