Key Information
The Transformative Initiative to Improve Learning Outcomes and Promote Inclusive, Competency-Based Education is a collaborative project between the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan and UNICEF, supported under the broader SmartED programme, which is financed by the Government of Uzbekistan in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank, the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development and the Global Partnership for Education. The project aims to strengthen the national education system by introducing inclusive and competency-based approaches to teaching and learning.
Key components of the project include the revision of national curriculum and assessment frameworks, the integration of socio-emotional learning and climate education, and the promotion of inclusive practices targeting girls and children with disabilities. It also supports the development of student-centered and play-based learning methods, alongside teacher training and the creation of new teaching and learning materials. The initiative is aligned with Uzbekistan’s broader education reform agenda, aiming to improve learning outcomes through systemic, equitable, and sustainable changes in policy and practice.
