Key Information

With the objective to empower adolescent girls with skills and income opportunities to end the age of marriage in Rajasthan. This investment is the first major effort to prioritise skills and jobs for adolescent girls in Rajasthan by demonstrating effective implementation of the Government’s $78 million in-school vocational education and out-of-school skills programme and matching these skills to both girls’ aspirations and potential income opportunities. The goal of this five-year (2019-2024) investment is to demonstrate a tested, ready-to-scale model that is successful in delaying age of marriage, first pregnancy and transform how families and societies value girls. Adopting a 2-year pilot followed with a scaled-up approach, we will equip a critical mass of girls with skills and income opportunities through: in-School: 90,000 girls will get high-quality market-driven vocational and life skills. Of these, at least 20,000 will get on-the-job training/apprenticeships and 13,500 girls will earn incomes; Out-of-School: 40,000 girls from 1000 villages are provided technical and life skills. Of these, at least 18,000 girls will earn incomes, which is a 3-fold increase as compared to 2017-18.
