Key Information
The Adolescent Girls Club, launched under Mission Shakti in Nagaland, is an initiative aimed at empowering girls aged 10–19. The first club was established on October 2024, at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Wokha, with 50 adolescent girls as its founding members. This program is being expanded across both government and private schools in the state, focusing on education, health awareness, leadership development, and social well-being.
The club's objectives include enhancing decision-making abilities through skill-building and mentorship, providing academic support and life skills training, and promoting health awareness on topics such as reproductive health, nutrition, mental well-being, and substance abuse prevention. Regular activities include workshops, health camps, and community service projects. A special Adolescent Girls Toolkit is being developed to serve as a comprehensive guide on various issues affecting adolescents, including menstrual health hygiene, mental health, teenage pregnancy, child abuse prevention, and available helplines.
