Key Information

The Department of Basic Education (DBE), in partnership with the South African Council for Educators (SACE), has launched the Females in Leadership and Management (FILM) Programme to promote gender inclusivity and professional development among women in the education sector. The programme brings together female education leaders from across the country, with recent sessions held in KwaZulu-Natal and upcoming engagements in the Western Cape, Gauteng, and Mpumalanga provinces.

The initiative is designed to increase women's representation in leadership and senior management positions within education by fostering confidence, resilience, and supportive professional networks. It addresses workplace challenges, such as gender bias, resistance to female leadership, and age-related discrimination.
