Mexico's Teacher Professional Development Program (Spanish: Programa para el Desarrollo Profesional Docente) objective is: "strengthen the profile necessary for the performance of the functions of full-time faculty, teaching staff, technical teaching staff, and personnel with functions of management, supervision or technical-pedagogical advice of public educational institutions, through training programs, academic updating, training and/or research projects on equal opportunities for women and men." According to the rules of operation, for internal evaluations done by educational institutions, there must be "specific indicators... incorporated to allow the evaluation of the relevance of budgetary programs on the reduction of the gaps between women and men, the prevention of gender violence and any form of discrimination based on gender, disability, ethnic origin, or other forms." Likewise, external evaluations, "should incorporate a gender perspective." The program also supports teacher training for advanced and tertiary studies with a focus on gender equality and parity.
