Bangladesh: Secondary Education Sector Investment Program Tranche 3

  • F Funding Initiative/Portfolio

? Activity Status: Unknown

Key Information

Tranche 3 continues to support the Bangladesh government’s reform of secondary education (grades 6–12), aiming to create a system that equips young people for the demands of a rapidly developing economy. Building on previous initiatives supported by ADB, the World Bank, and earlier tranches of the program, this phase advances core reforms such as modernizing the curriculum and standardizing examinations. It also enhances teaching in science, math, English, and Bangla, and promotes the use of information and communication technology in the classroom. A harmonized stipend and adolescent student program is expected to help expand access, improve retention, and support students to complete the six years of secondary schooling. In addition, the tranche strengthens sector management in areas such as decentralization, planning, monitoring and evaluation, procurement, and financial management.
