Description

The Columbia Global Centers promote and facilitate the collaborative and impactful engagement of the University’s faculty, students, and alumni with the world, to enhance understanding, address global challenges, and advance knowledge and its exchange. The Global Centers, as envisioned by President Lee C. Bollinger, were founded with the objective of connecting the local with the global, to create opportunities for shared learning and to deepen the nature of global dialogue. Located in nine cities across four continents, the Global Centers are Columbia’s physical and intellectual manifestation in the world. They offer a platform that facilitates collaborative and impactful engagement of the University’s faculty, students, staff, and alumni, through educational programs, research collaborations, internship opportunities, and many other programs and initiatives. The nine centers work individually and as a network to drive teaching and research across disciplinary boundaries, in partnership with experts and scholars from their regions. Columbia Global Centers bring the campus to the world and the world to campus– building connections, sharing knowledge, and helping address global challenges.
