Generation for African Relief and Development (GARAD)

Generation for African Relief and Development (GARAD) is a nationally registered, youth- and women-led non-governmental, non-profit civil society organization in Ethiopia. The organization works primarily with marginalized populations in the Somali Regional State and surrounding regions, including Oromia, Afar, Harari, and Dire Dawa. GARAD is committed to promoting women's rights, social justice, resilience, and sustainable development through grassroots and community-based approaches.

GARAD's mission is to improve the lives and resilience of the poorest and most vulnerable populations through multi-sectoral interventions that address the root causes of poverty and exclusion. The organization prioritizes education and life-skills development for women and adolescents and promotes the social and economic inclusion of refugees, internally displaced persons, and minority communities. Its programs place particular emphasis on supporting women, children, older persons, and persons with disabilities, especially within pastoral and agro-pastoral communities.
