Description
Camara Education is an international non-profit organization with over 20 years of experience improving education through technology. Operating in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zambia, it provides scalable EdTech solutions that promote digital inclusion, empower girls, and strengthen the capacity of teachers and education leaders.
The organization works closely with national Ministries of Education and global partners such as Dell, the British Council, the World Bank, and UNICEF. Its model integrates digital infrastructure, curriculum-aligned platforms and content, teacher professional development, digital literacy training, ICT clubs, and long-term technical support. Camara Education also promotes safe and inclusive use of technology and advances environmental sustainability through IT reuse and recycling.
In Ethiopia, Camara Education partners with the Ministry of Education to supply computers preloaded with curriculum-aligned content and approved textbooks. It provides training for teachers and school leaders, supports schools in creating secure computer classrooms, and offers maintenance and monitoring to ensure effective use. The computers operate on Ubuntu and include offline learning tools such as the Camara Learning Studio for maths and science, and a curriculum-aligned offline AI tool. They also conduct leadership workshops, evaluate project outcomes, and manage responsible end-of-life recycling for ICT equipment.
