Danish Development Cooperation (Danida)

  • F Funder

Description

The vision for Denmark’s development cooperation is: A more secure and sustainable world free from poverty, based on international binding cooperation as well as just and resilient societies that fight inequality and create hope and future opportunities for the individual, with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement as beacons. The foundation of Denmark’s development cooperation are democratic values and human rights.

Danida makes a particular effort to advance gender equality, promote and protect the rights of girls and women, and maintain focus on marginalised groups. Gender equality is not only about girls and women having equal access to healthcare and education, but also about men assuming their responsibility at home when women enter the labour market. Danida will continue to lead the way in the global fight for gender equality and protection of girls and women’s rights and will focus particularly on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Danida will support gender equality and SRHR initiatives locally. We will partly do so through education, focus on girls and women’s economic and political empowerment, as well as through fighting sexual and gender-based violence.
