Descripción

Established in 1996 by Richard Moore, who lost his sight at age 10 during the Northern Ireland conflict in 1972, the organization is dedicated to supporting initiatives that assist some of the world’s most vulnerable children affected by the injustices of poverty.
They work with local organizations in Tanzania and Ethiopia to improve the lives of disadvantaged young children, placing a strong emphasis on Early Childhood Education (ECE) while also considering gender equity in education.
In Ireland, they engage with schools and the broader community to raise awareness about global justice issues, advocating for increased investment in ECE programs that also address gender disparities.
School Readiness Programme
Our integrated School Readiness Programme is piloting innovative models of quality pre-primary education in schools throughout Addis Ababa and the Oromia region. Collaborating with local partners and government agencies, we aim to educate communities about the benefits of quality early learning, emphasizing the importance of gender-inclusive practices.
Barriers to ECD Programme
The Barriers to ECD programme recognizes that not all children have equal access to quality early years education. We identify these barriers and work to overcome them, ensuring that every child, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to fulfill their potential.
Dual Generation Programming
Children in Crossfire implements and supports dual generation programming in Addis Ababa and Oromia. This initiative focuses on empowering women and caregivers while simultaneously enhancing school readiness for children. By addressing caregivers' health, well-being, nutrition, and psychosocial support, we create a holistic approach that benefits both children and their families.
